|Etude House| Happy Fresh Foam Witch Hazel Review

Happy to write this review like this Happy fresh foam! Hehe~!
Happy Fresh Foam comes in different variations for different skin types. Today I'm going to review the Witch Hazel one.

This facial cleanser is for Oily/Combination with Black Heads! There is another version of this for just oily/combo skin type called White Clay. I  have huge pore problem on my face so I went for Witch Hazel.

This product is amazing! I use it every morning. It deep cleanses my face and especially pores. I wouldn't say it's good for removing makeup though. Every time I use it my pores get cleaned but get clogged up after a couple of minutes. This foam cleanser has helped my pores to become smaller. I believe that if I keep using it I would be able to get rid of my pores eventually. I use the Wonder Pore Freshner as a toner after I wash my face with this one.

The 30% on the front means that is formulated with 10% sebum absorbers and 20% moisturizers. I'm not sure why they combined it to 30% though  lol.

Directions as listed on the product: Wet face. Squeeze small amount into palm and rub hands together to form lather. Massage over face avoiding the eye area, then rinse thoroughly.

It only takes a small amount of the product because it seems like it's compressed paste that turns into foam with water and rubbing. So it's a great value, it's going to last me for a long time in my opinion. I have tried with bigger amount of the cleanser and my skin felt a little irritated. Just a little bit is enough.

Something I must not forget to write here is... it contains a few micro beads like the ones you find in peelings! So yay for the light peel while cleansing! I'm super happy about this feature. I think it really makes a difference! They are spread here and there so they are not hard on your skin. Please note that this cleanser is very strong like the Baking Powder foam cleanser by Etude House. Not sure if it's suitable for sensitive skin!

They wrote the ingredients in English! No parabens! I think those micro peeling beads are the Myristic Acid. Not sure though! Stearic Acid - something a lot of cleansers have - helps with deep cleansing the pores. I can't analyze every single ingredient but Sodium Benzoate is the Preservative instead of parabens. Methylaparaben and other ingredients that end with -paraben are known to cause breast cancer and I wouldn't recommend products with that ingredient to any body. Sodium Benzoate is something that Etude put in this product instead of  -Parabens! If you see any "bad" chemical in it feel free to point it out.

The variations of the Happy Fresh Foam cleanser: (what they are used for is based on research done by me)
[Update] Taken from The Certified Latebloomer Post :
  • Essential Collagen (Firming, smoothing and moisturizing)
  • Essential Hyaluronic Acid (Holding moisture, Anti-wrinkle and Anti-aging) 40% Moisturizers
  • Essential Vitamin C (Brightening, Vitamin C, exfoliates and softens)
  • Fresh Witch Hazel (Pore Astringent and 10% Sebum absorption)
  • Fresh White Clay (Oil Control and 10% Sebum absorption)
I hope the above helped you to choose which of the cleanser is suitable for you because it's a bit unclear since there is nothing written in the description of the online shops I came across. They don't tell you which one is for what. The above are based on research done by me.

There are so many variations of this product that's impossible for someone not to find one or more cleansers suitable for them. For example I use two different cleansers daily. One for my oil and pores and one for acne and oil! My skin is always busy!

I will definitely repurchase and there is nothing wrong with this product in my opinion. It works great for my skin!

Please don't hesitate to ask any questions, Thank you for reading!

    1. I don't live in Korean hehe. I just order a lot! Yes etude just suits my skin and style ^^)

I tried samples of the baking soda moisture cleanser and it was too harsh on my skin ^^; But I liked the cleansing abilities!

    1. It can cause you cancer, I've heard on TV and on the internet that scientists and researchers say that parabens can help breast cancer to appear. Especially on deodorants and things you apply on your armpit.. A lot of companies promote their products as paraben free as well.

    2. I looked this up and I didn't find anything that shows it causes cancer, only that parabens are found in breast cancer tissue but there are a lot of reasons for that, and that doesn't prove a causal link, only a correlation, like when "A" students drink red wine, and that doesn't mean that red wine makes them "A" students.

I can see women who shave avoiding parabens in deodorant but not too much gets through skin ordinarily and they leave the body within 36 hours so I am never worried about them. Did you know there are parabens in food? They occur naturally in blueberries, and can also be found in cakes, pie crusts, pastries, icings, toppings, fillings, the jelly coatings of meat products, surface treatment of dried meat products, cereal- or potato-based snacks and coated nuts, confectionery (excluding chocolate), liquid dietary food supplements. If you are scared of parabens you'll have to change your diet to avoid them.

In food it is listed as methyl-, ethyl- and propyl p-hydroxybenzoate.

    3. I'm aware that exist in food and I try to avoid them in general but I mostly try to avoid them on the things I apply on my body. I have a face cream with parebens by Missha and I still use it. I just think it's better not to use a lot of products that have paraben but that's just me. I'm a bit terrified of breast cancer. ^^)

  4. Hello. I'm just wondering, how do u know the expiration date of this product.

    1. It doesn't have an expiration date on, it has the manufacturer date on. It also tells you when this product goes bad after it's been opened. Like the usual 12M or 24M months with the container icon. Happy fresh foam goes bad after 12M it has been opened. I hope that helped ^^;
